In 1883, Benito Pérez Galdós (1843-1920) writes El doctor Centeno, one of the most interesting works. The book opens a triple historical and literary dialogue. On the one hand, the book refers to other works by Galdos so that some researchers speak of the textual debt. Then, it has ties with nineteenth-century European novels and may be linked to the environment of Dickens. Finally, it is connected to classical Spanish literature, and the good reader discovers the allusions to Cervantes.
