Autorenporträt
Gertz I. Likhtenshtein received his PhD (1963) and Doctor of Chemical Science (1972) from the Institute of Chemical Physics at the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow, where he was appointed to the position of Head of Laboratory of Chemical Physics of Enzyme Catalysis in 1965, becoming a full professor in 1976. In 1992 he moved to the Department of Chemistry at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, as a full professor in charge of the Laboratory of Chemical Biophysics and has been an emeritus since 2003. He has authored ten scientific books and around 390 papers, and his many awards include the Medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievement of USSR (1968), the USSR State Price (1977), the Diploma of Discovery of USSR (1979), Diploma of the Israel Chemical Society (2000), Medal from Academy of Science of Tajikistan Republic (2010), the Gold Medal "Academician N. M. Emanuel, Centenary of Birthday" from Russian Academy of Science and Moscow University (2015). Professor Likhtenshtein was a member of the International ESR Society, the American Biophysical Society, the Israel Chemical Society and Israel ESR Society. His main scientific interests focus on mechanisms of light energy conversion and novel methods of immunoassay, nitroxide and antioxidant analysis.

Rezensionen
"This book introduces the key theoretical and experimental background focussing on recent developments to a broad audience of researchers, engineers and undergraduate students in the fields of photochemistry and photobiology ... . this book provides key insights into the physics and biology of electron spins and their pivotal role in nature. The final section on the outlook of this mechanism is exceptionally innovative, and therefore this book could both help as a guide and contribute towards future research." (Tanveer A. Tabish, Contemporary Physics, Vol. 60 (1), 2019)
