These individuals dropped out of society in the 1960s, like many young people, and rejected the mainstream ideals of the American way of life. Their lives converged in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco in the mid-60s and they became connected by a new vision of the good life, and exploring new ways of thinking
and feeling. An ideal of peace and brotherly love was their creed. They began to question the injustices and hypocrisy of American society with the painful tragedy of the Vietnam War, and the discrimination against blacks and minorities who were denied the American dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It was a time when American society was being ripped apart by internal contradictions by proclaiming to be the land of the free, but this was an illusion. These five young people were looking for new possibilities of life that they would try to implant in a commune that they created in northern New Mexico in 1968. But tragedy struck in 1969, the unthinkable happened, and it destroyed their youthful idealism and their dream. And now 32 years later, the dark secret of their tragic past is about to be revealed which will have devastating consequences in all of their lives. And they're not about to let that happen.
An epic, emotionally-moving saga of five individuals who are forced to confront the painful truth of their lives. . .A heart-wrenching story of love, loss and redemption, and the quest for that happiness that never dies. . .A powerful portrait of the American dream gone astray.
