This led to a deep distrust and fear of others, incredible self-doubt and loathing, and ultimately, a very dark depression. She has a master's degree in English from Harvard University and has studied traditional naturopathy, plant and herbal medicine, and shamanism. She lives in Florida with her husband and three boys, where she works with nonprofit organizations to heal trafficked and exploited children.
