Autorenporträt
I have a special interest in history and historical fiction. Although "Emilie Adler" is a work of fiction, it is based on historical events. The characters and incidents have been composited, invented and fictionalized, but when I put words into the mouths of historical characters like Raoul Wallenberg or Adolph Eichmann, I have tried very hard to ensure that those words reflect what we know about them.
To date, this is my only novel. I wrote it as if I were viewing the scenes in a movie, intending to write a screenplay when the novel was finished. Unfortunately, It took many years to finish and to rewrite while I worked as a middle manager at a hospital and nursing home. Although the topic has always obsessed me, I was relieved when the book was finally finished.
I then spent months submitting queries to agents, etc. until it dawned upon me that no one would publish this book in the United States because there is minimal interest in the Holocaust. I believe the book might do better in Sweden, or Germany or even Hungary because of the setting and the characters. I believe my characterizations of both Wallenberg and Eichmann are accurate.
I have rarely gotten any feedback from anyone who might have read it. If that inspires someone to write a review, go to it! I might even make some changes if your review inspires me!
