Author of the Children's Book Emily Higgenbotham, The Gift, Jeannette Brown is an exemplary mother and grandma, avid Scrabble player, enthusiastic birder, experienced spelunker, and an accomplished gardener. She has worked most of her life as a legal secretary and over 20 years in international charity and disaster relief with Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC. This enabled her to travel to Ukraine, participating in Operation Christmas Child to hand-deliver shoeboxes to children in need. Jeannette Brown has opened her home to those in need of sanctuary on multiple occasions. She visited the lonely and assisted with home-delivered meals. Jeannette is known for her spectacular sense of humor and a rapier-sharp wit. Patient, positive, encouraging, and full of love, she perpetually has a kind word for family, friend, and stranger. She says, "A small, kind word or smile can make a big difference. You never know what someone may be going through." The author can also be heard to exclaim, "Life is a great place to be!" Jeannette finds joy in giving of her time, money, energy, and spirit, living a true life of love and selfless service. She can effortlessly find the positive in the negative with tenacity and grace. Those that know her are blessed. The world would be better if there were more people like Jeannette Brown. The characters in this autobiographical tale are family and friends with which the author, like Emily Higgenbotham, has shared her Gift. Due to her diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's disease in the summer of 2018, it is impossible to know when Jeannette completed this, once lost tale, but we can deduce that it was more than 15 years ago, during the early 2000's or late 1990's.
