Autor

John C. Winchell was born & raised in the Southeastern US. In 1986, his family moved to Cape Cod, MA. After high school, he attended UMass-Amherst & graduated with a BA in Journalism. Over the next decade, his post-baccalaureate education comprised of graphic arts, web design & printmaking coursework at schools in both Boston & the SF Bay Area.

John's next adventure involved embarking on multiple cross-country trips to find an ideal home base for permanent relocation. To date, that place has yet to reveal itself. Since leaving New England in 2016, he has primarily migrated between Asheville, NC & Central FL over the last several years.

Accordingly, this nomadic lifestyle required the adoption of relative minimalism. A mountain bike, surfboard & MacBook Pro are John's primary possessions of choice. These tools serve to help him engage Nature & record the wisdom it yields in a continuing quest to fully express his personal truth.

Poetry has been a part of John's paradigm since 2001. At first he utilized it as a cathartic vent to help mitigate the trials of life. After a while, though, his writing took on a life of its own. Notably, John discovered his innate skill of boiling paragraphs of thought down into concise poem stanzas while still effectively conveying his core emotions. To him this represented an incredibly powerful, efficient means of self-expression.

So far, John has officially self-published two poetry collections: Emotional Fissures in 2009 & Inner Pathways in 2023. He continues writing to this very day.
