This book presents a detailed analysis of Power-to-Gas, a promising energy storage technology. It discusses the main mechanisms involved, and presents two Power-to-Gas and carbon capture hybridizations. The book begins by providing an introduction to energy storage technologies. It then reviews a number of Power-to-Gas projects now in progress, highlighting the current barriers to commercializing the technology. Moreover, the book presents two novel Power-to-Gas hybridizations, which improve the technology’s applicability in terms of efficiency, utilization of resources and…mehr
Moreover, the book presents two novel Power-to-Gas hybridizations, which improve the technology’s applicability in terms of efficiency, utilization of resources and profitability.
Given its scope, the book will be of interest to graduate students, researchers and practitioners in the fields of engineering and energy.
Manuel Bailera, Ph.D. in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, 2017, is a Researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Zaragoza, Spain. He is also member of the university’s “Energy and CO2” research group. His main lines of research focus on energy storage (Power-to-Gas, thermochemical energy storage) and carbon capture (oxy-fuel combustion). He has participated in 8 competitive research projects related to energy storage, including an Individual Fellowship from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
Pilar Lisbona, Ph.D. in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, is a Senior Researcher at the Fundación ARAID and member of the “Energy and CO2“ research group at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. She has previously worked as a Researcher at UMSICHT Fraunhofer Institute (Germany), the Universit degli Studi di Perugia (Italy), Fundación CIRCE (Spain) and University of Valladolid (Spain), pursuing various lines of research on carbon capture and CO2 utilization technologies. She has published 34 JCR peer-reviewed papers, 5 book chapters and 2 books. She has participated in 11 competitive research projects (national and European) and 6 private contracts.
Begoña Peña, associate professor of Energy Systems at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zaragoza, with over 15 years of experience in energy systems and power plants. She has previously worked as researcher at the University of Navarra (Spain), the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus (Germany) and Fatronik Foundation (Spain). She currently belongs to the research group "Energy and CO2", leader on carbon capture, storage and conversion in Spain and Europe. She has more than 20 articles published in JCR journals, four authored book chapters in recognized publishers, such as Springer and Elsevier, and one patent on monitoring systems. She has participated in 3 private contracts and 14 competitive research projects of national and European calls.
Luis M. Romeo is a Full Professor of Energy Systems at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Zaragoza, Spain, with over 25 years of international experience in energy systems and power plants. He is member of the “Energy and CO2” research group at the University of Zaragoza, and is a leading expert on carbon capture, heat transfer and fluidized bed reactors in Spain and Europe. He has published more than 70 articles and 5 book chapters with e.g. Springer and Taylor & Francis. He also serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering (IJEE, Springer).
