Zane Grey (1872 - 1939) was an American author and dentist best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts; he idealized the American frontier.William MacLeod Raine (June 22, 1871 July 25, 1954), was a British-born American novelist who wrote fictional adventure stories about the American Old West.Willa Cather (December 7, 1873 April 24, 1947) was an American writer who achieved recognition for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains, including O Pioneers! (1913), The Song of the Lark (1915), and My Ántonia (1918). In 1923 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for One of Ours (1922), a novel set during World War I.Frederick Schiller Faust (May 29, 1892 May 12, 1944) was an American author known primarily for his Western stories using the pseudonym Max Brand. He (as Max Brand) also created the popular fictional character of young medical intern Dr. James Kildare for a series of pulp fiction stories.Rex Beach (September 1, 1877 December 7, 1949) was an American novelist, playwright, and Olympic water polo player. His adventure novels, influenced by Jack London, were immensely popular throughout the early 1900s.
