Autorenporträt
Eskinder Belachew was born on 20 June, 1974, in DebreBrihan, Ethiopia, and grew up in the various parts of the country. From 1991-1996 he studied Agricultural Engineering at Haramaya University, and obtained a Master of Science education in Mekelle University, from 2005 to 2008. His postgraduate thesis work reflected on the effects of industrial effluent on irrigation water quality and changes in soil characteristics in industrial city of Kombolcha, Ethiopia and included the publication of a paper, titled "Assessment of the impact of industrial effluents on the quality of irrigation water and changes in soil characteristics: The case of Kombolcha town", in an international journal of irrigation and drainage.

From 2008 Eskinder worked at the Kombolcha Agricultural College, Samara University and Wollo University as both lecturer and researcher, involved in personal research and collaborative developmental projects and consultation activities related to water and environmental topics, and establishing collaborative links outside the university with industrial, commercial and public organizations. He is a member of various professional organisations; International Solid Wastes Associations (ISWA), International Associations of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), and Ethiopian Environmental Protection Society (EEPS).
