His works focus on marginalised people.He grew up in Townsville, and moved to Brisbane to study music composition and later earned his master's degree as a specialist English teacher.He has an avid interest in history, science and linguistics, and lives with his family in a quiet suburb of Canberra where he teaches English to adult migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
