This is a 2024 reprint of my 1995 booklet, based on my MA dissertation for University of Wales. Published by the Finnish Development NGO umbrella organisation, KEPA, it has been out of print for decades and found only somewhere deep in the present day FINGO website. This humble republication in a bit modern format is meant to remind journalists of today that the issues of racism and media are not quite that new and to give the reporting problems some perspective.
Please remember that although the situation seems to be very much the same now than 30 years ago, the paradigmas, definitions and all basics in this booklet is decades old. Soviet Union was no more and something called Internet was already there, but Mark Zuckerberg was only an 11-year old boy in a local school computer course. A lot has changed in our world of knowledge since the writing of this.
While re-reading this text I so many times astonished myself with the similarities of the issues to todays problems, and almost as many times found myself wondering: "Little did we know..."

Reprinting it here is totally unfair to all parties involved, but I just could not find anything approporiate to put in the cover, please forgive me all journailists in Central Finland.
