The team made the approximately 20,000 kilometres return journey from India through the port of Kuwait, the vast Arabian Desert, then into Eastern Europe, through the soaring majestic Alps and into Central Europe by road, on motorbikes, in a 100 days, on a shoestring budget of $5 a day per person.
The book is written in a conversational style which makes it readable for a wide audience. It reads like fiction, but it is a factual representation of events that the team experienced. With a career spanning more than 44 years with the TATAs, Prof. Akhil Pandey has been an architect of IT reforms and benchmark implementation for several leading Indian corporates such as Tata Steel, Essar Group, TCS, R S Software, TCG and Tata Power, etc. Prof. Pandey's contributions to the field of IT have been recognized at various national and international forums. His pioneering work at Tata Power has been widely recognized at International and National level. He is an alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur and completed his Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur.
Prof. Pandey has also been actively involved in academics and teaching at various reputed educational institutions such as XLRI Jamshedpur, IIT Kharagpur, TISCO Management Development Centre and, SAIL Plants, Ranchi as visiting faculty. He loves reading books and travelling. He has travelled extensively around the world and has been a keen observer and learner as a student of human behaviour and diverse culture.
Currently, he is associated with leading business school, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) as Professor and Chairman of Centre of Management Development and Consultancy.
