The year is 1972. Quayle County, located in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, has seen an uptick of illegal alien smuggling from across the Rio Grande. The alien smugglers are determined and violent. The small sheriff's office and the local population are left to their own devices to resolve this crisis.

Earl Snort is the nom de plume of a retired law enforcement officer with more than 40 years experience toting a badge and a gun. Before that, he served in the armed forces.He and his wife have been married more than 50 years. They have one son, also a career law enforcement officer, and two grandchildren.This is the author's fifth foray into the world of writing fiction.
