Why do some people seem to have an advantage? Why does it appear to be so much easier for them to be successful? The answer may be in approaching life's challenges in a methodical manner that emphasizes the positive and manages the negative without letting the negative consume you. Exposing the Engineer in Dad is a manual for how author and nuclear engineer Greg Mitchem's mind works. He breaks down decision-making processes and life lessons using clear-cut strategies that anyone can follow.

Greg's philosophy was gleaned from a long career of preventing meltdowns-both nuclear and human-and can be applied using the execution tools and techniques discussed in the book. Greg brings these fundamental principles together to form a TedTalk-worthy story about how to think and communicate, how to put pieces together, how to make and execute decisions, and how to recover from mistakes.

Exposing the Engineer in Dad prepares you to face challenges with grace and flexibility through the use of planning and organizing, execution skills and techniques, effective communication in multiple directions, and dealing with the oh-so-many ways situations can combine. As a technical engineer, Greg has an innate style with easy-to-follow bullet points and details, which are combined with humorous and poignant storytelling. Together, they form a map you can follow to generate your own annual maintenance checklist. You can examine what's going well and surface topics that may need some work as you strive for riches, happiness, and success.

Autorenporträt
Greg Mitchem was born in Missouri and worked in the engineering, construction, and operations industries as an engineer, project manager, or operations manager for more than thirty years. In writing about his successes, Greg could point to his bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University, his master of science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, the pride that comes with raising two daughters, or the ability to get to an early retirement in a relatively healthy fashion. Greg has now settled in to Portland, Oregon, where the call of writing, paddling dragon boats, and generally enjoying the outdoors in the Pacific Northwest has become his focus for new adventures and stories.
