Myrna Guymer has banked a lifetime of stories as the granddaughter of Canada's first female Funeral Director (undertaker), the mother of seven daughters and now a grandmother herself and has a writer's drive to tell the world of all she has experienced.
In this creative nonfiction collection of new and previously published pieces, she shares a selection of memories and experiences. Part autobiographical, part travel adventure, part chronicles of notable personalities, family and friends, these essays are infused with emotion, honesty and humour and offer intimate glimpses into the heart of a writer/photographer and a superb storyteller.
We see glimpses of Myrna's childhood in northern Manitoba through an authentic child's perspective. We get to enjoy her and her late husband's shared love of sailing and the outdoors, and their winters spent in Mexico where they're exposed to different ways of seeing the world. We become acquainted with some quiet heroes who made a difference in their northern communities. In Exposures, we experience connections between individuals and within families, and their connections with nature.
