One man's eyes could save a thousand lives…
It is June 1944, and with the words 'D-Day' still drying on almost every newspaper in the world, Corporal Calvert is serving with B Squadron 1SAS in central France. He, like all of his fellow soldiers, has heard all about what the 2nd SS Panzer Division has done. But, more than that, he has heard about what they could do, if they were allowed to move.
Flight Lieutenant Bill Collins meanwhile is serving with 21 Squadron RAF. Rushed from his Mosquito cockpit to the briefing room he hears the name 'SAS', the first time that he has ever heard it outside of a rumour.
So, when intelligence is divulged that could alter the course of the Allied landings in Normandy, every man knows that they must act, and fast. But how can they know that the intelligence is to be trusted? The source was unknown to the SAS and, perhaps more worryingly, could be known to the Germans themselves.
Had they been found out? Or had they struck gold?
'Eyes of Fire' follows the events of Operation Bulbasket, as the SAS attempt to verify the claims of a single man. The second novella in the B Squadron SAS: 1944 series, 'Eyes of Fire' promises to be a thrilling, fast-paced instalment of action.
