Humanity has alienated itself from its own nature and is heading towards the abyss with its eyes wide open. For while Christianity failed to give rationality a place alongside faith and thus to be credible, the Enlightenment failed to place spirituality alongside pure rationality. The result is a Euro-American culture that has no appreciation for nature and suffers from the illusion of the infinity of the world. However, society is more than just the sum of the people currently alive. Only if we honor the intergenerational contract will humanity have a chance of survival in this finite world. Yoga philosophy, with contemplation at its core, offers a way out of this impasse.

Autorenporträt

Klaus Pinkas wurde 1940 in Graz geboren und besuchte die Handelsakademie, die er allerdings wegen fortschreitender Erblindung abbrechen musste. Es folgten die Handelsschule und eine Ausbildung zum Stenotypisten an einem Blindeninstitut. 1961 trat er in den Dienst des österreichischen Bundesheeres ein. Nach der Matura im zweiten Bildungsweg folgte ein Jus-Studium mit anschließender Promotion. Sein Leben nachhaltig beeinflusst hat seine Begegnung mit dem Yoga, das er u.a. in Indien studierte. Von 1976 bis 2001 gab er sein Wissen als Yoga-Lehrer an einer Volkshochschule in Wien weiter. Außerdem war er als Meinungsforscher beim Heerespsychologischen Dienst sowie zuletzt als Forscher für den sozialwissenschaftlichen Bereich an der Landesverteidigungsakademie bis ins Jahr 2002 tätig.
