The Lebanese poet Fawzi Al-Maalouf inspired the subject of his theatrical novel from the story "Gonzalve de Cordoue" (in French: Gonzalve de Cordoue and in Spanish: Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba) by the French writer Florian. It is a poetic novel that praises the exploits of that Andalusian hero who defeated the last Arab king in Spain, Abu Abdullah al-Ahmar of Granada, in the year 1492 AD. Fawzi was also inspired to write his play by the great French writer Chateaubriand, who in 1826 AD published his historical story "Les Aventures du dernier Abencerage" and named its hero Ibn Hamid, which is also the name of the hero in the play "The Fall of Granada."…mehr
