After graduating in Texas with a degree in Physical Therapy, Peter practiced on Long Island for 28 years, specializing in orthopedics and manual therapy. Eventually, he became restless and transitioned into the field of medical malpractice, where he was a professional liability claims specialist for thirteen years, reviewing and analyzing lawsuits against healthcare professionals, hospitals and nursing homes.
It was during these years that Peter first began to write, first on clinical subjects in the field of Physical Therapy, then on medical malpractice and risk management. One such article, having to do with preventing and defending against allegations of decubitus ulcers (bedsores), was used as part of the orientation program for a Nursing Home, the Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located in Brooklyn. That article, along with three others, were published in ASHRM, the American Society for Healthcare and Risk Management.
After leaving his position as a Claims Professional in 2021, Peter began to write on a consistent basis. Beginning with what he knew best, health & fitness, he expanded into business profiles, concerts, travel, and even political essays. He has also written research-based articles on the high cost of healthcare, anxiety & depression, gambling, addiction, alcohol awareness, advances in cancer care and the sandwich generation. In his work as both a claims specialist and writer, Peter has interviewed dozens of business owners, healthcare professionals and elected officials.
In the book, Peter describes how his two careers formed the foundation upon which he would find the confidence to write, with the goal of educating the public on a variety of topics, many of which are personal to him. To date, Peter has published over 85 articles. Fifty Things at Once, One Lesson at a Time, is his first book.
Other themes in the book include prayer, family history, friendship, American history, and lessons learned, especially from Peter's beloved Dad, who, in Peter's view, was an American success story.
Most of Peter's articles can be found at these two websites:
