Lekeda L. Vaughn grew up in Chicago, the fourth of eight children. She attended Catholic elementary and high schools before graduating college with a business degree. Lekeda worked in financial planning before pursuing writing. She currently resides in the south suburban Chicago area near her daughter, a middle-school gifted program educator, and her two granddaughters. Fill-Up the Gas Pump is her first children's book.
