Anita Faber Spencer is executive director of Center of the Future Academy, Inc. (CotFA), a 501(C) 3 not-for-profit organization. The academy is designed to provide mentoring to students, with emphasis on enhancing reading and social skills. Resources are available to parents and teachers. Anita earned her bachelors degree at Prairie View A and M University (Texas). In addition, she earned two masters degrees, one in education from the University of Minnesota and another in public administration from the City University of New York. As an educator, she has been a curriculum developer, writer, consultant for diversity and gender equity, district-level administrator, desegregation coordinator, and successful mentor teacher, with a career spanning over four decades. She has used the First and Ten model in her teaching and found it to be a viable tool for motivating and developing students self-esteem. Anita has received numerous awards. As a community worker, she has organized, chaired, and continues to serve with educational, community, and civic organizations. Mrs. Spencer is a wife and has two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson. Oliver W. Spencer Jr, Ph.D., is the chief executive officer of Spencer Consulting Group, an executive leadership development organization. His career spans over four decades of administrative and executive leadership experience. He is a retired school superintendent, former college vice president, past chairman of the board of trustees at a Hiistorical Black College and University (HBCU), and a former deputy state commissioner of human rights. Dr. Spencer is an administrator, educator, humanitarian, public speaker and excutive consultant. He provides keynote and motivational addresses on local and national platforms. A native Texan, he received his bachelor of science degree from Prairie View A and M University (Texas), where he was a three-year letterman, in football. After college, he had a brief stint in the NFL. He earned a Ph.D. and masters degree in educational administration from the University of Minnesota. He participated in an educational leadership summit at Oxford University in England. He serves on numerous boards and is recipient of many awards, which include but are not limited to Regional Superintendent of the Year and a Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow. He has been a contributor to several articles on education, as well as books Rough Diamonds by (2003) Tommy Reamon and The American Black Male (1994) by Richard G. Majors and Jacob U. Gordon. As a teacher and coach, he has been a mentor to numerous students, professionals and other individuals .
