Although the old West was often a violent place, many of the folks who lived there chose to avoid violence whenever they could. They preferred to use their wits rather than their guns. Those who chose to solve, or, in some cases, cause problems without resorting to violence came from both sides of the law. Some were doctors, bankers, or cowboys; others were outlaws. The short stories in this book are their stories.
