Autorenporträt
Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández was born in Alcira Gigena, Córdoba, Argentina. He studied at the major seminary of Córdoba and earned a licentiate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome in 1988, followed by a doctorate in theology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina in 1990. He was ordained as a priest on August 1986 in Río Cuarto. Fernández served as dean and later rector of the Faculty of Theology at the UCA. In 2013, Pope Francis appointed him titular archbishop of Tiburnia, and on 2 June 2018, he became the titular archbishop of La Plata. On 1 July 2023, he was appointed prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, taking office in mid-September 2023. He was created Cardinal by Pope Francis on 30 September 2023, assigned to the Deaconry of Santi Urbano e Lorenzo a Prima Porta. Among books, educational materials, and scientific articles, he has over 200 publications worldwide.
