On March 13, 2020, S. Anne Kelln was sent home from her teaching job after schools closed to quarantine from Covid-19. Thrust into an uncertain life at home with her two young children, Anne turned to poetry for comfort. She joined a poetry challenge to write one haiku a day. She turned all the big events, every day simplicities, emotions, and experiences into seventeen syllable statements. Days, weeks, and months went by. This collection of haiku is the result of the five months spent at home while the virus raged across the world. Come with Anne on a poetic journey through global pandemic, online teaching, racism riots, political affairs, personal loss, and the removal of a beloved cottonwood tree. Use these short poems as motivation and inspiration for your own life, writing, and meditation, or as something simple to read every morning. Sometimes the most profund things can be said in the least amount of words.
