The Floods is The Adams Family [sic] with an edge. Book 1 in the series is funny, irreverent and gross in the way that appeals to boys ... Subversion is the order of the day ... The text is aptly illustrated throughout by Colin Thompson. The darkly funny illustrations, combined with the device of speaking directly to the reader, often in asides, results in a book that is almost interactive. This is a book that is certain to grab the attention of many readers who enjoy humour and should be in school libraries.
