My passion for writing children's books arose from my concern, as a father and grandfather, about traumatic, childhood experiences that are having a direct impact on our children's health and wellbeing. How can we, as a society, help children overcome adversity and learn how to thrive in today's chaotic world?
As I reflect on my life as a father and retired veteran, who has traveled the world, I too, have witnessed and experienced many of the personal challenges that are the subject of my books.
"I believe it is extremely important that children in today's world learn how to face and address complex societal issues that are directly affecting them on a day-to-day basis and presented in a manner that is easy for children to understand. Diversity, bullying, divorce, death, abuse, and birth defects, just to name a few. My books are written with the intention of helping children feel safe to talk about these issues, so as not to keep them bundled up inside, afraid to talk to anyone."
My first book, Flying Together, "It's OK, Really," was published in April 2017 and addresses diversity. My second book, Forgiving Is The Right Thing To Do, was published in October, 2017, and addresses bullying. I continue to write to create a series of books on other traumatic childhood issues, including, but not limited to, divorce, adoption, death, abuse, abandonment and childhood mental and physical challenges.
