This study delves into causes involved in creating this disparate as well as contrasting situation and looks for preventive and restorative measures to strengthen 'food security' for entire mankind, assuring not only availability of adequate food 'at all times and at all places', but also indicating how to make it healthy for the affluent class to evade a catastrophic future. At the same time, climate change resulting from mindless wrong-doings of man over time, with debilitating effects on the food production system, impacting heavily on food supply, combined with environmental degradation and ever-shrinking biodiversity posing as the greatest challenge to human survival, demands greater emphasis on mitigating measures to halt the process culminating as never before in making both food and water scarce commodities, imperilling human existence by the end of this century.
