Autorenporträt
Rod Lee was born in Endicott, New York, one of four children, all boys. He and his brothers were the sons of a framing carpenter and a homemaker/bookkeeper. In 2004, he published a memoir of his youth, Shoe Town, that was hailed by readers from coast to coast as an accurate and nostalgic depiction of a village built on the generosity of George F. Johnson and the company he founded: Endicott-Johnson. Many of these admirers of Shoe Town worked for EJ, or were sons, daughters or grandchildren of people who were employed in the Johnson family's factories. Shoe Town also celebrated the football teams of Union-Endicott High School and the firebrand of a coach, Fran Angeline, for whom victory-and manhood-were an all-consuming passion. For Pete's Sake-the saga of Pete Nash and his wife Mary Lou and their children Madeleine, Donald Jeremiah ("DJ") and Katherine, in the traumatic move they made from small-town New York to bustling Worcester, Massachusetts-is the author's sixth book. He resides in Linwood, Massachusetts with his wife, Marie. rodlee.1963@gmail.com
