Mark dreamt that he was flying. Up until he got into high school, flying was a common theme in his dreams. Sometimes he was in a plane, other times he had wings and sometimes he wasn't even himself, but a bird or a butterfly, and sometimes he had nothing at all, he was just in the sky. Most of the time the flight was about escape and Taiwan was always his goal, but other times he was just there, in the air, staring down at the world below. In high school, those dreams had disappeared. Replaced by more sinister things. Dreams of violence and bloodshed. He woke up more than once in the morning, in a cold sweat, heart pounding, convinced he'd really killed someone the night before.

Mark Erjie Tian sees spirits. He's seen them since graduating high school, and moving across the country from Seattle to haunted Savannah hasn't helped. One day on his way home from work, he takes shelter from a sudden rainstorm under some trees by a mysterious gate. The gate leads to a house that isn't really there. At least, not to most people. Its owner, one Fiona Glenmara, might not be really there either. But she says she can help Mark if he works for her.

Everyone knows not to make contracts with fairies. But what if you're desperate? Follow Mark as he enters a strange world of magic, fairies and spirits and finds out what it means to be Crossed Over.

In the sequel to Fly, Mark meets Win, a waiter at a Thai restaurant who apparently knows a thing or two about the supernatural. Meanwhile, Fiona's hold on Mark grows stronger, and he debates whether to officially prove that Cammy is not his real sister.

I'm Kala M. Light. I write in contemporary or AU fantasy worlds with an emphasis on ghosts, demons, and diverse characters. I live in the Seattle area and love the Northwest, so the vast majority of what I write is set there in some capacity.

I primarily write urban fantasy, usually set in an alternate version of our world where there happens to be some manner of magic and supernatural workings.
