An English born woman, Susan Hartford, grew up near an idol of hers; Mary Anning. Mary was the first woman paleontologist in the country, and Susan wanted to be like her. She didn't have the exact focused knowledge but was interested in science and dinosaur bones in particular. So, she dwelled on finding a good location for her digs, but also a man to love. To Susan, both were equally as relevant to her life. A marriage broker suggested she had the perfect man, and he also lived in Utah in the United States, which was second only to China, at that time, for fossil hunters. Susan sets off on the long journey with a heart full of hope and longing, hoping to find that both of her wishes would be ulfilled.

I was born in England, but have lived in Southern California for many years. I m now retired and live in the Pacific NW in a little seaside city amongst the giant redwoods and wonderful harbor, almost at the Oregon border. My husband and I have one cat, called Midnight and she is featured in two of my latest Sci-Fi short stories. I love Science Fiction, animals, and trying to help others. I publish under Doreen Milstead as well as my own name. My photo was taken right before the coronation of QE II in the UK.
