The series "Faces of the Great" is a complex and fascinating biographies of major artists - emigrants and people from emigrant families. This is a story about people who, despite the difficulties of emigrant life, reached the pinnacle of their creative activity and wrote their names in the history of world art. The French artist of the "Paris School", Chaim Soutine (1893 - 1943) was born into a large Jewish family in the Belarusian town of Smilovichi. Painting becomes his calling, overcoming many obstacles, he makes his way to Paris, where, begging and sometimes starving, he studies art. The Louvre became his real university. Soutine's works are in the best museums in the world. Illustrations by Alexander Steinberg.
