This book explores the genealogical record of the author. It focuses on one individual, his great-grandfather Frederick W. Coffin, born in Nantucket, Mass. in the 1850s. He migrated in the 1880s to Mexico and connected with a family whose roots went back to the founding of Monterrey. His research about Frederick took about thirty years. In doing so, Rodrigo succeeded in unearthing and bringing together a considerable amount of information about two separate but intricately connected families from two different countries. And he transformed those efforts into a very colorful, coherent, and readable history.
