Fun Loving Finn - The New Collection invites readers on a wild ride through the late 1960s and early 1970s, where the period's countercultural ideals prevail. This collection of creative nonfiction (memoir) stories chronicles the misadventures of Finn Briscoe, a college dropout whose journey takes him through hitchhiking and pot deals to construction sites, Mississippi towboats, and border crossings in North and South America.

From sometimes harebrained schemes to finance college and travel to unexpected friendships with work-release inmates, each story offers a fresh glimpse into the colorful, challenging worlds Finn stumbles upon. Along the way, he encounters a cast of unforgettable characters: a cocky, redneck auto mechanic, a feisty deckhand, and a friendly, French-speaking fox on a Mexican beach, among others. Finn's sardonic, humor-driven reflections on authority, self-discovery, and cultural divides liven the narrative with his unique voice.

Author Finn Briscoe captures the highs and lows of youthful adventure in tales brimming with wit, charm, and unexpected wisdom. For fans of insightful humor, this collection promises a vivid snapshot of a unique era and the timeless pursuit of freedom and connection.

Autorenporträt
Finn here. I write short stories and novels. Here's what I usually say in a bio: A tech entrepreneur with a passion for Latin American fiction, who didn't make it big but did make it bust, I grew up on a farm but never sang "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" while skipping through fields of waving grain. A budding entrepreneur, I risked life and limb to become an insignificant drug smuggler at the age of eighteen to help finance an education in Latin American literature, but had to get serious when my wife gave me three wonderful gifts (our children). Scared of starving kids, I began studying engineering and eventually started my own telecom company. It died, but I didn't. That's pretty stuffy, so let me make it quick: Shit happens! My first novel is God Is A Mortician, which I call punk sci-fi, Then there's are two memoir series called Fun Loving Finn and Finn on the Farm. Both are creative nonfiction (fancy name for memoir with a twist). If you care, my academic background includes a B.A. and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Amherst College and UT-Austin, respectively, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas, leading me to become a multilingual techie in my professional life before embarking on my career as an author. My short stories have been published in J Journal, Calliope Literary Journal, Jokes Review, cc&d, and nagarimagazine.com, the latter in Spanish. My irreverent outlook and profane wit sometimes cause members of my own family to act like they don't know me, but that probably happens to you, too, when you tell a bad joke or cut a fart in a crowded restaurant.
