This book gathers selected science and technology papers presented at the 2018 International Conference on Science Technology and Social Sciences (ICSTSS 2018), organised bi-annually by Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang, Malaysia. Based on the theme “Redesigning Education for Industrial Revolution”, the papers in this book address a broad range of topics in the fundamental and applied sciences, including computer science, engineering, environmental and management, furniture, forestry, health and medicine, material science, mathematics, plantation and agrotechnology, sport science and statistics, covering theoretical, numerical and experimental studies. The book serves as a platform for disseminating research findings by academicians of local, regional and global prominence, as a catalyst to inspire positive innovations in the development of the region. It provides a significant point of reference for academicians and students: for academicians, it is a good source of information to conduct further research; for students, it is the latest point of reference on research conducted in their fields of study. The carefully reviewed papers intend to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through the exchange of ideas, strategies and innovations in various science and technology disciplines, and to contribute towards enhancing the learning environment.

Autorenporträt
Nor Azizah Yacob obtained her Ph.D. and Masters in Mathematics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She received her Bachelor of Science with Education degree from the University of Malaya. She is currently a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Pahang, Malaysia. Her research focuses on applied mathematics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer with boundary layer theory.
Duratul Ain Tholibon completed her PhD in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) at the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Selangor, Malaysia, where she is currently a lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang, Malaysia. She has published several papers in River Hydraulics Engineering, and is currently a member of MIEM. Her research interests includes river hydraulic and river engineering.

Nor Yuziah Mohd Yunus is currently an associate professorat Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang, Malaysia. She has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Monash University Australia, a Master in Business Administration from Ohio University and a PhD from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She entered academia after several years' industry experience. Her area of expertise includes chemistry, polymer, composites and the environment. Her current research areas include the enhancement of oil palm tree-based products, the utilization of fast-growing / plantation species, and plant extracts as bio-agents control.

Zadariana Jamil obtained her PhD in Electrochemical Engineering from Imperial College London. She graduated with a Masters in Engineering Science and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Malaya. She is currently a senior lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam. Her research interests include fuel cells, biohydrogen and biomethane production and IoT-based monitoring system.

Syuhada Mohd Tahir is a senior lecturer in the School of Sciences at Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang, where she teaches Inorganic and Polymer Chemistry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University Teknologi Malaysia and a Master of Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, both specialising in Chemistry. Her research investigates the development of solid polymer electrolytes for application in electrochemical devices. She received the Most Promising Researcher Award in 2015 and the Best Writer Award in 2017 from the Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang.
