Can a condemned soul becomes God's weapon?

Prisoner U877, known as The Brit by other inmates and considered to be the "Boogie Man" himself, awaits his upcoming execution. During the execution, a storm rages over the island prison knocking out the power and leaving a window for inmates to riot. Strapped to the chair after the blackout, The Brit is freed by Pastor, a trustee turned minister.

The Brit now has one goal, his freedom outside the walls. He needs to make it to the large courtyard gates. With Pastor in tow, The Brit progresses through the prison encountering a gang of inmates in the cafeteria. Acquiring a makeshift weapon, The Brit dispatches the men efficiently. Pastor notices one of the dead men resembles a man he had given last rights to. They dismiss this and continue gathering supplies for their escape unknown that they are being stalked.

Joining with civilians and prison staff, including the warden, The Brit grudgingly becomes the only person who can lead the group through a prison overrun by its inmates. One by one, they fall victim to inmate assaults. The Brit won't become prey. He takes the fight to them, clashing horns with Courier, a large built prisoner, who seems to not die.

A dark history starts to emerge about the prison that Death Row had nicknamed Purgatory. The survivors begin to grasp the fact that it's more than a nickname and they have not survived at all. They had died in the riots. The Brit died on the electric chair. Courier, a ferryman for Satan, collects souls for the Devil's army in return for staying out of Hell. He needs The Brit in order to get outside the gates. To make the world his.

The final showdown occurs as The Brit calls to mind what took him down the path of evil. Remembering the good in him, he decides to sacrifice himself to save another. He discovers the power that he has been given. The Brit is the Reaper and with his newfound power, Courier is sent to his Master.

Some of God's instruments are tarnished.
