The study includes several generations of women who had different individual possibilities for development. A significant observation is in what way new developmental possibilities, fields of interest and spheres of activity open up for women within the Diakoniekonvent itself and also for women in the non-Diakoniekonvent-related groups, that is to say in a wider social context. The study puts particular emphasis on the changing awareness in the roles and positions women have held within the community of the Diakoniekonvent between 1920 and 2013. Based on the data on female organizational and creative activities obtained within the frame-work of the interviews, the study presents how and to what extent changes in the awareness of female role identity within the Diakoniekonvent take place and, as a consequence, whether and to what extent new opportunities to act and do things have been taken up.
