The present study is an attempt to update the taxonomic information on prawns of the genus Penaeus Fabricius, 1798 under the family of Penaeidae Rafinesque - Schmaltz, 1815, found in Indian water. Khan Women's College, affiliated under Vidyasagar University, Midnapur, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, India. Author was a research scholar of Zoological Survey of India and Published more than 25 research papers in National & Internationally reputed Journals and also published four books. The author is engaged in research work on penaeid fishery, taxonomy and ecology from Indian water. He has completed one Minor and a Major Research Project funded by UGC, Government of India.
