Produktbeschreibung
Geomorphic environment has been recognised as a typical ensemble of environmental resource units or geobiological complexes that possess specific abiotic and biotic associations and, consequently, inherit similar potential and problems for a given use of a land parcel. In the present study, land resources in southern Haryana and a fraction of the area in Delhi have been classified into fluvial, dryland, and inland lake evaporite environments. Environmental resource units and land covers in each of the above geomorphic environments have been mapped on 1: 25,000 black and white aerial photographs, and village-based agricultural land-use data obtained for a few selected environmental resource units. The interpretation of physico-chemical properties of environmental resource units, land covers and agricultural land-use suggests whether the existing cropping pattern and crop yields are in harmony with the geobiological environments of the resource units, or if the given crop(s) need to be suitably replaced for enhancing the productive potential of the resource units within the area of a given geomorphic environment. It is hoped that the methodological treatment of the subject and the conclusions derived there from will provide guidelines for agricultural land-use planning at the grassroot level.
