Autorenporträt
Chaucile made a huge fish sculpture sewing together men's ties for fins and placed it on an outdoor umbrella stand. She named her fish George. Then she made a school of fish swimming around George and displayed them at her Art Exhibit, The Staunton August Art Center. Also on exhibit were twenty Art Quilts and other intuitive ways to recycle men's ties. George, the fish sculpture, is the inspiration for this book. Making George was a family affair. Grandson Ben gave George bones using PVC pipes to form a skeletal framework heating the pipes in her kitchen oven. Sam and Grace Chaucile stuffed him full of cotton. Daughter Denise bought an umbrella stand making him into a freestanding sculpture. It was a fun day for the family. George gets his beginning through years of Chaucile being creative, sewing, painting, writing and sharing new ideas with her daughters and others. She comes from a family uniquely talented in their own right beginning with her grandmother. This is Chaucile's second Children's book. She also published and illustrated Oscar Churchmouse available on Amazon and at book stores. George is a story about a fish who realizes that he is proud to be himself... looking different.
