This therapeutic metaphor accompanies an adult client to step back from his/her situation and find ways (decisions, actions, resources, way of seeing, etc.) to get out of his/her emotional state. Not knowing how to get out of the situation, the client is filled with various emotions and the one that takes up the most space is the feeling of being stuck, like a car stuck in the mud. He or she has a confused feeling that he or she is not moving forward despite all his or her efforts.
