Let's Be Grateful for the Gifts in Our Lives You have seen blank gratitude journals. You write an entry each day about what you are grateful for. This book is not at all like that. Let's Be Grateful for the Gifts in Our Lives You have seen blank gratitude journals. You write an entry each day about what you are grateful for. This book is not at all like that. Whether you're visiting a museum, a national park, or even the local zoo, you most likely see signs directing you to exit through the gift shop. That's the idea behind Gift Shop of Gratitude. Slow down as you pass through the gift shopa metaphor for life itself. Slow down and examine the snow globes and ball caps, the toys and postcards and jewelry. Put a new spin on the gifts and people and places in our lives that have brought us happiness and joy. Through the lens of gift shop items, award-winning author and journalist Peter Lovenheim asks you to look for gratitude in a new way. He prompts you to create a bobblehead from a beloved athletic coach or teacher, for example, or evoke the smell of a childhood memory, such as burning leaves when browsing through the candle section, or think about the pivotal moments in your life at the key chain counter to recall people who opened doors for you. Shop the many aisles of the Gift Shop of Gratitude. Jot down your moments of self-discovery and create a memory book not only for yourself but for your family. The best things in life cannot be bought, but a shopping trip down memory lane will help you create a rich heritage of gratitude for the gifts of life.
