Her father came home and spent four months tracking down the children. As a teen, Bernice attended The Convent of the Good Shepherd where she learned to read. In later years she struggled with cancer, a cruel drunken husband and a baby arriving every year until a neighbor gave her the courage to take control of her life. A story of love and hope.
