Global Compassion is an ambitious account of the relationship between private voluntary organizations (PVOs) and the US federal government from 1939 to 2005. Rachel M. McCleary is Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International Development, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and Research Fellow of the Hoover Institution of Stanford University. She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Theological Studies from Emory University.
