The primary motivation for this study by James Daniel Collins, the late famous philosophy professor at Saint Louis University, stemmed from his observation of the close union between the modern history of the "God" problem and contemporary reflection on it. The first purpose of this book is to identify the main patterns of philosophical approaches to the problem of God in the modern era, while emphasizing those historical trends that are still at work in shaping our contemporary perceptions of God. This book is considered one of James Collins's most important works, along with his books "The Existentialists" and "The Mind of Kierkegaard". The late great translator Fouad Kamel is considered one of the most important translators of distinguished philosophical studies in Egypt and the Arab world. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy in 1949, and among his translations are: The Individual in Schopenhauer's Philosophy, Existentialist Philosophers, The Concise Philosophical Encyclopedia, French Philosophy from Descartes to Sartre, and other famous translations.
