While teaching about Jesus to inmates inside the Hutchins State Jail in Dallas Texas, I discovered the Living God in a whole new way. I discovered a love for God that had been missing in my own personal walk. God revealed to me Who He is in His Word. Opening the Bible to teach is different than casual reading or a study. I began seeing the form and function of the Trinity of the Living God like I had never seen before. To grasp the form and function of God, we must understand why God presents Himself in scripture using these different roles and different titles. God the Son and God the Holy Spirit both interact with mankind on behalf of God the Father. For the Angel of God to become both the Son of God and Son of Man required His physical birth. For the Son of Man and Son of God to become the Messiah required the physical re-birth by defeating death. Setting aside His glory as God, Jesus accepted His role to transition into our physical fallen world by way of the virgin birth. We see a glimpse of what this physical re-birth might look like from the story of the transfiguration of Jesus speaking with Moses and Elijah about His departure which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem (Luke 9:28-36).

I describe myself as a nobody telling everybody about Somebody who can save anybody. I have made three covenants in my life. As a child around twelve I made a covenant with God that I believe in Jesus as my Christ. I have fallen short so many times, but thank God for His grace and long-suffering. At seventeen, I joined the Texas Army National Guard taking my oath to defend the Constitution. That oath was repeated as I took my commission as a Combat Engineer Officer. Again, I must thank God for His patience and long-suffering because I was a bit of a wild youth and it is only by His grace I did not get into trouble while serving in the military. I got married to my college sweetheart at the age of twenty-five and made an oath before God to honor, love and charish her. And again I must thank God because on my own I would have destroyed my marriage, but by God's grace... Thank you Jesus!
