William D. Hall served as a Union soldier from August 1862 through June 1865 and left a detailed record of where he went and the battles he was in. Over the past two years, Dale, his great grandson, followed his journey, visiting eleven states, seeing for himself his great-grandfather's path as he marched with Sherman through Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia. William ended his tour of duty in Washington DC at the two day Review of Troops that marked the end of the Civil War. Dale's trip was a crash course in the events of the Civil War that revealed the bravery and tenacity of the soldiers on both sides of the conflict.
