Malcolm Jameson, born William Fryer Harvey on December 7, 1891, in Portland, Oregon, and later known by the pen name Malcolm Jameson, was an American science fiction writer whose works were mostly published during the Golden Age of Science Fiction. Before his foray into writing, Jameson attended the United States Naval Academy and served in the Navy, experiences that would later profoundly impact the themes and settings of his work. Diagnosed with oral cancer in 1941, yet he continued to write despite his declining health, often dictating to his wife when he was too ill to type. His work is characterized by its attention to detail, scientific rigor, and exploration of military life within a science fiction context.
