This book is a historical narrative on the 6,000 year history of Govan, one of the oldest, most continuously inhabited places on earth. The book is not parochial for it also expands into its role (when it served for 3 centuries as the capital of Strathclyde) as the formative force behind the creation of Scotland and England as separate nations. In other words a 'History of Britain' but seen from a viewpoint not produced before.
