Except for cans of beans and tomatoes that she uses to make chili, almost every dish she prepares is made from scratch using only fresh or frozen vegetables. Do not look for fancy cooking in this book because you will not find fancy. What you will find is good down-home healthy recipes which do not take a lot of time to prepare. Every young person leaving home should take a copy of this book with them so they do not have to live on fast food and will find the joy of eating like home cooking. She can only wish now that she had access to this type of cooking when she was learning to be a wife and mother.

Autorenporträt
The author is a self-taught, prize-winning writer, now retired who for 21-years managed a community newspaper. She was the boss over all the others, knew every job of all those under her, saw to the bookkeeping and accounting, and in her spare hours at the newspaper interviewed interesting people in the community and wrote stories about them. Grandmother of two grown grandchildren she has been asked by them to record her favorite recipes and the result of that request is this book. It has taken her 55 years of married life to perfect some of the recipes she grew up loving to eat and fix for her small family. I hope you enjoy plain food because this is just what these recipes are, the best-tasting, easiest-prepared foods you can find in good country cooking.
